Dwindling Days of Summer

September is here, and summer is quickly drawing to a close.  It always flies by and we have tons of fun, but I am secretly cheering inside that fall is just around the corner!

Oh yes, I am one of those...a summer-hater.  "Hate" is perhaps a strong word, but I really, really dislike hot weather.  Sweating grosses me out.  I can't stand bugs.  And sunburn.  Sweating as soon as you step out of the shower.  Mosquitoes, ewww.  Hot cars and searing asphalt.  And sweating...have I mentioned that?

I long for the cool, crisp mornings, visits to the apple orchard, the scent of burning leaves, and watching the steam rise off my coffee when the kids play outside (without sweating OR mosquitoes!)

But we did have a fantastic summer, and we've been busy finishing up all the things we wanted to do before school starts again.

One last ice cream cone at Moxie's until next season...
One last hurrah at Hoffman's Playland...
A rousing round of mini-golf (This is Grace's "It actually went in!" face)...
And of course, no summer would be complete without a day at the fair (Seamus' remark here was, "Wow, that cow has a big heiny!")
So it's been a fun-filled summer.  Seamus is continuing to recover so well from his tonsillectomy.  We are shocked!  He's doing wonderful.  Pre-K starts again for him on the 11th, and I can't wait!  it's great to hear the stories of what goes on at school and see all the adorable projects he brings home.
I hope everyone is enjoying the end of summer and gearing up for a fantastic fall!

Can't believe how fast this year is going by. I am actually more of spring/summer person and prefer it hot rather than cold so I guess living in Sacramento is not a bad place for me. Your kiddos look like they had a fab summer! Ugggh...now to start planning for Halloween again.

I sooo agree with you. I can't stand summer. Although it has been more like fall here for a very long time. Our summer was filled with cold and rain. Hopefully Fall will be better. So glad that Seamus is recovering nicely from his tonsil surgery. Loved all of the pictures!

OK so I am laughing so hard at Seamus' comment about the cow. Because it is so like someone else I know who is obsessed with back sides! I am so happy to hear his recovery was smooth-makes me much less apprehensive about the inevitable!
As I said on Kodak-that picture of Grace is so cute-I love her face. I know fall is your favorite. I think you guys go apple picking at the orchard my friend Mel and I went to as kids. Here fall starts in late October/early November but I am with you on the sweating. I really hate sweating. Although I also hate this time of year for the pants hemming and the incredible bill at the tailors!

It is finally spring here and I am looking forward to being able to go outside in a t-shirt.....I can wait for summer though - something tells me it is going to be a hot one this year.

Me too! I love Fall! Mmmm... yes, steam rising over my coffee and the smell of burning leaves or logs on a fire... yes indeed, it doesn't get better than that! Grace's "it actually went in face" is priceless! Haha! Seamus you are too funny, I'm sure that cow did have a big heiney! Looks like you are all having fun wrapping up the summer! Good luck Seamus as you head off to school! I can't wait to see those pictures!

I just did some catch-up reading today and I was pretty behind so I didn't know that Seamus went in for his surgery. I'm so glad that it all went well. The anxiety leading up to a child's surgery is heartbreaking for a parent.

I love the Autumn too, and you're right, sweating is sick. It's finally cooled down here too on the Island.

Oh, and in one of your previous posts you went to the Saratoga track - we have a track here called Saratoga Speedway, but ours is for cars!
