Our Valentine’s Day…

…really had nothing to do with Valentine’s Day at all!!

We stink at this holiday.  Devon and I have never really celebrated it, because our anniversary is the day after, and it’s more fun for us to celebrate that.  Of course we do the requisite store-bought boxes of valentines for the kids to give their friends, but beyond that I’m pretty much tapped out.

I felt super guilty this year after seeing all the cute crafty blogs -  all the Moms with their heart-shaped pancakes and hand-crafted Cupid cards and pink-tinted milk.

Next year, I need to step up.  Heart-shaped sandwiches for everyone!!

But we did have a very fun day, despite the lack of Valentine-ness.  Some good friends of ours invited us to a local indoor pool complex, and it was the perfect break from gloomy winter!

See those cone-shaped bucket things up there? They fill up with water and just randomly – and unsuspectingly – dump about 42 gallons of water RIGHT ON YOUR HEAD.  (And your camera.  Was I paying attention?  Of course.)

Lots of silly splashing, sliding, and spraying…I think this could be a new Valentine’s Day tradition!

Looks like you had a blast, my kind of day. Hope you are all well and that you had a wonderful anniversary. Congrats to you both. :)

What fun! We aren't much of Valentine's Day celebrators either, but I try and throw a heart shaped something in there ;) The kids look like they had a blast swimming in February!

Loving it! We just had the indoor pool open up in the development. Preston said that it is really hot in there so we can go swimming. In the summer the outside pool put up those buckets but Pres hates them. They have a lot of water pressure-I fear they can break his neck. (I know over dramatic). The expressions on Grace and Seamus' faces while hanging at the pool are super cute. It's nice to see kids in bathing suits since I am longer for the warmer weather!!!

Looks like lots of fun! My kids HATE the dumping buckets anywhere, especially because they are normally filled with freezing water that pretty much knocks them down! We don't really do Valentine's Day at our house either, and I didn't make heart anything, so you can quit feeling so guilty!

Happy Vday and Happy Anniversary. I can totally understand you laying low key on Vday. What great fun at the indoor water park. The kids look like they had great fun. Why not make that your annual tradition. I'm sure there will be no objections.

Looks like a super fun day! We dont do much Valentines stuff either. I kinda feel like it's a dating couple's holiday! Kinda looses it's mushiness after you are married for years!!
