Turkey Day Mission Accomplished!

My very first running of the Annual Troy Turkey Trot was a success! With a record 4,083 runners, this was the largest 5K in the history of the trot. My dad even joined me for the run! We're so proud of him.

Here is my dad and I before heading downtown for the race.

My friend Sam ran along with me and kept me motivated...thanks, Sam! It was so exciting to be running along with thousands of people, and hearing everyone out in the streets cheering for us. But the best part was coming across the finish line and seeing this...
Devon made me this awesome sign that says "Mommy's Finish Line." I almost cried when I saw it!

I was hoping to finish under 35:00, and my official time was 31:18!!! It felt great!

After the race, we headed to my parents' house for Thanksgiving dinner. The little stinkers would not stand next to each other for a picture, so here they are:

This is me, my sister Ashley and the kids, after we were completely stuffed full of Mom's yummy food.

All in all, it was a great Thanksgiving! I am hoping to sign up for another 5K over the winter, because finishing that race was an incredible high. I hope all of you had a very Happy Turkey Day!

Congratulations! I always admire those that run. I am terrible at running. You must have worked up a great appetite. The kids look like they really enjoyed themselves.

Awesome job! That's a great time! You had a very good pace going! And the sign made me tear a bit when I read it. Running is so much easier with a support system. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
