Tuesday Tidbits

1. We are now a Wii family. The thing rocks. I am so good at boxing, and even Grace has managed to KO an opponent. Is boxing an appropriate family activity? Hmm...

2. Seamus has enlarged tonsils. His snoring started back up again, so we went to the ENT and it looks like they've grown significantly since his adenoidectomy in June. They are scheduling a sleep study for him, so soon we will get to experience the joy of an all-night battle with our child to "Please keep the gazillion gooey sensors stuck all over your head and body, and go to sleep for goodness sakes." We'll keep you updated.

3. My mom got Grace an ironing board for Christmas, kind of as a joke (even though you all know I'm hoping she'll grow up to be ironing-obsessed like me.) Although when I went into her room to see her playing with it, this is what I found:Oops! We remove the clothes from the baby BEFORE we iron them, honey...

4. In the bathtub, Seamus has a particular fascination with three of our foam letters. Actually, it's two letters and a number that stands in for one of the letters. He'll stick them up on the wall and say, "Mommy, look! O, O, P!" I don't know what it is about this combo that gets him so darn excited... (BTW, these pictures were taken on 3 different occasions!)

5. In trying to avoid the post-holiday slump that I usually find myself sliding into, I went ahead an applied to be a volunteer at our local Ronald McDonald House. My mom and I attended the volunteer orientation and got a tour of the House and an overview of volunteer functions. It's great because not only is there the main House, but there is also the Ronald McDonald Family Room in the pediatric unit of Albany Medical Center. So we'll get a chance to help out with both. I'm really looking forward to getting started.

6. Seamus' Pre-K Christmas concert had to be postponed twice due to the raging winter storms, but has been rescheduled for this Sunday. Be ready for some cuteness overload with all those adorable kids singing "O Candy Cane!"

I love the "Tuesday Tidbits" title! That's great you are going to be volunteering at the Ronald McDonald house! And the ironing of the baby is hysterical. I hardly ever iron, mostly the only time I do is when I sew. And even that, I was very upset to find out when I started sewing how much ironing was involved!
Isn't the wii great?? It's so fun. Laynie is the bowling champ in our house!

I hope that Seamus' sleep study goes well...it's amazing that they even sleep at all with all that stuff stuck on them.

Your tidbits are really funny especially the picture's caption of the ironing board! And that's so awesome that you're getting into volunteering with your mom, how nice!

And my take on the three letters Seamus is obsessed with is that it spells Poo backwards. The toilet humor for boys starts so early.

Yay for the Wii! That thing is so much fun! We just got the Wii Fit this year and Zoe and I have been having hula hooping battles! OOP is too funny! My 4 year old has a bunch of crazy made up words. I wonder what OOP is? I'll have to ask her and see if she knows. Love the ironed baby doll too! I've found Akelas doll in our fridge a few times. They will be the perfect domestic goddesses! Good luck with the sleep study!

Emily!
What a great post - we got a wii for Christmas. I haven't found a lot of time to play it - but Caden thinks the bowling is hilarious!
Your dear daughter ironing the baby - oh no - too funny!
I like Seamus's word choice, what a character. And does he realize what that spells if ya turn it around? :0)
Good luck with the sleep study - yuck!!!

I hope that the foam letters is the only POO that you end up with in the bathtub (spoken from a mother with two babies who thought bathtime was perfect for that)! Grace ironing the doll is hysterical! I guess we need to get a Wii - maybe for Easter! How great to volunteer!

The photos of Seamus in the bath are too cute! I thought the same thing as Trisha on what he was spelling. Congrats on the Wii -- it looks like a lot of fun!

Ok so I am dying over here with the picture of the ironing board and poor doll. Too funny. Devon has got to be totally psyched that there will be 2 ironing obsessed females in the home. What a great thing that you and your mom are doing together. That is really awesome.
As for Seamus-ugh Preston is snoring a lot too at times. I think adenoids need to go and then we will see about the tonsils.
I also have foam letters. Now since Preston is learning his letters thanks to Letter Factory (957 times) I will see what he spells in the tub-although I am with Katie toilet humor and boys go together. By the way how funny was the badger song? You have to watch the third anime video Hubba Hubba Zoot Zoot. Preston is obsessed with that song. It's kind of catchy!

OMG! The foam letters are priceless. Also, love the ironing board shot...um did she learn this from watching her mommy?

Well, I've joined the ironing obsessed club, thank you very much. I find it very therapeutic to iron while watching all my bad tv at night. Maybe it makes the guilt go away since I am watching the Rock of Love Bus?

That's awesome about the ronald mcdonald house. What a great cause.

And I love the OOP! Kids are so funny. Who knows what goes on in their heads sometimes.
